We caught up with Stepan Chop to talk about his San Jose del Cabo vacation, the historical sister town of Cabo San Lucas.

Preparing for Cabo

Stepan is a charter yacht captain in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. He was born in Ukraine and speaks many languages, which comes in handy with the locals. He loves to travel and to play sports. In fact, he was a professional football player at an earlier stage of his life. Stepan is excited to share his love of the sea with charter guests and looks forward to providing them with an amazing experience aboard his yacht.

Why did you choose to travel to Cabo?

My friend and I had a blast chartering a yacht in Cabo! We met so many new and interesting people from all over the world. The weather was perfect, and the water was amazingly clear. We snorkeled, sunbathed, and just generally had a great time relaxing and enjoying ourselves. I would definitely recommend chartering a yacht in Cabo if you’re looking for a fun and unique way to experience the area.

What is the biggest difference between Cabo San Lucas & San Jose del Cabo?

Chartering a yacht in Cabo is the best way to see the sights and sounds of this beautiful town. You can relax on the deck of your charter and take in the stunning views of the mountains and sea. Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo are two of the most popular tourist destinations in Mexico. They’re just a 20-minute drive apart, so it’s quite easy to get between the two. Being two bachelors, you probably think we should have based ourselves in Cabo San Lucas, but we were looking for some relaxation, so San Jose del Cabo was a good choice. We cruised around the coast seeing all the sights and then anchored in a secluded cove where we could swim and sunbathe in peace.

What did you do during the day?

You can charter a yacht for a half day or a full day. The cost will vary depending on the size of the yacht and the length of time you charter it for.

When did you travel to Cabo?

We traveled to Cabo for four nights during the month of November and charter a yacht while we were there. The weather was actually perfect during this time, as it wasn’t too hot or cold, but you could still catch a nice tan. We actually arrived just three days after a hurricane, but you couldn’t tell by the looks of things. Chartering a yacht allowed us to explore all the coastline that we otherwise wouldn’t have been able to see, and it was an amazing experience.

Speaking of lunch, do you have any food & drinks recommendation in San Jose del Cabo?

Chartering a yacht in Cabo is an amazing experience. The food was great, the tacos were awesome, and the drinks were top-notch. We also really enjoyed the food which has good healthy options. For chartering a yacht in Cabo, I would recommend tequila cocktails. They were just perfect for the charter experience.

Are there any “must do” in Cabo?

El Arco de Cabo San Lucas is one of the most popular tourist spots in Mexico. The archway is a natural rock formation that has been carved out over time around the harsh waves of the Sea of Cortez.
